Download 11 completely rights free music tracks you can use for free – no PRS license needed – as hold music on your businesses’ phone system.
One of our most successful blogs is from April 2018 entitled; Do I need a license to play hold music on my phone system?
In that blog I really worked hard to try and make simple and clear a situation which, to put it frankly, isn’t! A combination of confusion over the 2 types of licences needed to play music publicly, and exactly what music is or isn’t in copyright, means that even when people are fairly sure they’ve sourced copyright free music, they’re never 100% sure!
So that’s why I’ve taken the obvious next step and pulled some tracks together myself that I know are 100% royalty free (they have all been declared Public Domain by the artists themselves) and therefore can be used in the UK without the need for a PRS or PPL license.
There’s 11 tracks in total, formatted as both MP3 (better quality) and WAV (the format used in most phone systems) and I’ve tried to pick a variety of tones and moods.
I’ve pulled them together in a ZIP file, and grouped them into the following categories:
